Anirnik Ragee
Settlement: Cape Dorset / Kinngait
(1935) — E7-979
Anirnik RageeHaving responded to the open invitation extended by the management and staff of the lithography studio, Arnirnik is a newcomer in her late 60's. Initially unsure of her skill at drawing, it was suggested that she start by writing on the lithography stone. She created her abstract word puzzle Field of Verse (04-02), engaging the other artists working in the studio in an attempt to figure out the message hidden in her random words.Arnirnik was married to Quppapik Ragee (now deceased), who used to carve regularly to supplement the family income. She has several children; her sons Taraqtaga and Siutiapik, although not prolific, show some potential as young carvers. Her parents were the late Jamasie and Angotigolu Teevee and both were involved in the media of drawing, printmaking, and sculpting. Her sisters, Parnee Peter and Nicotai Simigak, and her adopted brother, Simeonie Teevee, are Cape Dorset sculptors .-----www.dorsetfinearts.comNow in her late 60's, Anirnik is a newcomer to the Kinngait Studios, having responded to the open invitation extended by the management and staff of the lithography studio to come in and try something new.
