Sukkualuk comes from a family of carvers. His adopted parents are artists Simaiyok and Latcholassie Akesuk from Cape Dorset. Latcholassie is the son of Cape Dorset sculptor Tudlik. Sukkualuk's adopted sister, Milutituk Petaulassie, is a sculptor.NarwhalSukkualuk is also know as Shooqualoo! He presently lives and carves in the community of Cape Dorset. Sukkualuk has also lived in Iqaluit, Salluit and Catherine Bay.Sukkualuk is mostly known for his carvings of narwhals and whales which he most often carves in a diving pose.
