Often his sculptures are carved from the local caribou antler. Veevee's son Davidee is also a sculptor.Veevee has cleverly used the different color and texture of the caribou antler that occurs with depth to both define and highlight the details of his sculpture. This piece is entitled Montage and illustrates the thoughts an Inuk may envisage of Sedna before a hunt. In Inuit legend, Sedna is the mother of sea mammals and the success of any hunt would depend upon her offering the bounties of the sea to the hunters. The upper prongs of the antler display a hunting spear, gaff and a fishing spear, all pointing towards two igloos. Below the igloos we find Sedna depicted uniting the Inuit hunter with two seals. The reverse depicts an Inuk hunter with spear above a drum and beater and an inukshuk. This large sculpture (18 inches in height) is carved from caribou antler and is detachable from its caribou antler base.---------------------
