Kwakiutl

(1967)

Tim Alfred was born in Alert Bay, British Columbia in 1967, but moved to Fort Rupert in 1985. He started carving at the age of 20 after learning from master carvers such as Stanley Hunt, Wayne Alfred, Beau Dick, and Calvin Hunt.

Alfred has experience with a variety of media such as bentwood boxes, paddles, masks, model canoes, and regalia for traditional ceremonies in the Bighouse. He also made drums and paddles for the Fort Rupert Elementary school in 1988 and contributed to the fundraising events for the Bighouse in Alert Bay.

Alfred’s work can be found in museum collections in Alert Bay, the Royal British Museum in Victoria, and private collections.
