Note:
Art Thompson is recognized across Canada as a master artist. His carvings, paintings, jewellery and prints are sought after by galleries, museums and collectors internationally. Thompson was born in Whyac village, Vancouver Island. Having spent his childhood in residential schools, he has taken the pain of his past experience and focused it on his artwork. His unconventional understanding of traditional design from the Nuu-chah-nulth tradition (his ancestral roots), has re-emerged during a time when the style had been virtually overlooked, establishing himself and his ancestral traditions in the contemporary art market.
Estimate: $800—1,200
