overall dimensions 22.4 x 12.2 x 7.5 in — 57 x 31 x 19 cm
Provenance:
Private Collection, British Columbia
Note:
Wind is part of the Atlakim Forest Spirits dance. Normally they are rather simple masks that are made quickly for potlatch and danced in four ceremonies before they are burned and sent to the ancestors.
What makes this mask carved by Beau Dick special is that rather than a small, simple and crudely carved work he has given the character spirit. He took the time to give life and energy to the mask with his talent for infusion of spirit.
Estimate: $15,000—20,000
