11" x 4.5" x 4.5" — 27.9 x 11.4 x 11.4 cm.

Literature:
Darlene Coward Wight, Art and Expression of the Nestilik, Winnipeg Art Gallery, 2000, pages 106

Note:
This work is very much in the style demonstrated on pages 106 and 107 in Wight’s defining text on the art of the Netsilik people, Art and Expression of the Netsilik. In it, Wight explains that certain characteristics were more common in carvings because of the influence of Anaija and Eli Inukpaluk such as expressive eyes, however “the use of concentric circles to form eyes, and flaring nostrils reveal the later influence of Karoo Ashevak. Even individuals like Ugyuk were influenced by the work of Karoo Ashevak in the early 1970’s.”

Estimate: $1,000—1,500
