Provenance:
Collected throughout the late 1950’s and early 1960’s by a Medical Social Worker on board the C.D. Howe. The C.D. Howe would bring workers to the eastern Arctic during the summertime to combat the first outbreak of tuberculosis, post WWII. The collector acquired small carvings because of the lack of storage space on the ship - a person was only allowed to bring what they could hold.
