FAMILY ENJOYING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
ENNUTSIAK (1896-1967), E7-603, Iqaluit
FAMILY ENJOYING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, stone, ivory, ca. 1955, 5.75" x 8.25" x 5.5" — 14.6 x 21 x 14 cm.
Est. $15,000/20,000
Note: Excerpt from collector’s memoir: My friend and favourite stone carver from my early days living in Iqaluit was an old man, Ennutsiak, who lived in the Inuit community near the US Air Base. In my view, very few carvers have come close to matching the intricacies and vibrancy of Inuit life as did Ennutsiak.
