“The ulu, or traditional Inuit woman’s knife, with its semi-circular blade is another popular subject in Oonark’s work. While ulus appear as utilitarian items in the hands of women, they are more often incorporated as decorative motifs on drawings, wall hangings and parkas. One wall hanging,...is actually cut out of the shape of an ulu (fig.7).”
